Themes of life & death, psychic intuition, wholeness, and ancestral magic weave together in The Coven’s Core. Among the apple’s broad range of symbolism, it represents a heart, a sphere, the world, the cosmos, and a womb. Expanding on these ideas, the apple comes to be a sign of love, beauty, wholeness, knowledge, fertility, and abundance. These are the keys of the coven and what links us all.

        In The Coven’s Core, the apple core represents the inner most heart of all things. The third eye appearing on the fruit is symbolic of knowing all, within ourselves and outside ourselves. The core’s silhouette creates a second image within the illustration of a young witch and a wise crone facing one another. They are linked and understand the cycle they are both a part of— the turning of the wheel and the nature of life, death, and rebirth; how magic passes from one witch to the next, reinforcing the ancestral chain as time moves forward. Snakes slither on either side of the drawing, also representing knowledge, wholeness, and the cyclic mysteries of the world. They fill in the space where the apple’s pulp once was, reconnecting the circle, binding us together, and bringing wholeness once again. All is one.
