In the fire-glow of a bubbling cauldron the Sorceress of Darkness sets her will in motion. Her jeweled adornments flicker in the incandescent light and her eyes shine like a creature peering out from shadow. She is joined by her bat familiar and trusted spirits as she sacrifices her cherished amulet to the brew, now swirling with intention. Just then, the elixir bubbles violently and a column of black smoke rises into the night sky. The contents of the crucible glows even brighter, indicating that the will of the sorceress has been heard. In response, she lets loose a cackle, her familiar screeches in unison, and the night wind awakens like a slumbering beast to add its howl to the ominous chorus. The song swirls with smoke and tendrils of night, all descending into the cauldron— the final ingredients that activate the potion. To the unfortunate onlooker, the song becomes a nocturne and a warning— Keep an eye on your wine, stay inside at night, and Beware the Sorceress of Darkness, she who calls forth shadow.
